Our director, Thomas Higgingbottom, transitioned from an eight-year tenure as head chef to becoming a director at ARC Costs and founder of his own eco-construction firm, Greener Costs. After initially studying law and completing the LPS, Thomas worked as a costs draftsman before joining ARC costs, where he now handles complex cases in areas such as industrial disease, clinical negligence, Court of Protection, and housing disrepair.

In 2021, he launched his own firm, Greener Costs, focusing on smaller cases with an environmental method, including planting trees for each instruction. Last year, Thomas completed ACLT’s Costs Lawyer Professional Qualification, strengthening his knowledge and confidence across diverse areas of costs law.

He highlights that costs law offers problem-solving opportunities, technical challenges, and insight into how solicitors work, making it a rewarding career for those willing to learn.
